Congratulations to @thebranch.fairmount for winning this year’s Holiday Window Decorating Contest! Here is the full article that was suppose to be published in The News Sun this week.

With the town of Fairmount decorated in Christmas lights and garland, the local businesses bring even more charm to small town Fairmount by decorating their windows for onlookers to enjoy. Not only are these businesses contributing to the beautification of Fairmount, but they are giving back to the community by participating in Main Street Fairmount’s annual “Window Decorating Contest” which came to a close on December 22nd.

The contest simply works like this: The community votes on their favorite decorated storefront by visiting the store and donating money to cast their vote. Voters may also visit www.paypal.me/MainStreetFairmount and write the business’ name in the note. The business that raises the most money wins. The proceeds go towards Main Street Fairmount to help make the community the most thriving and beautiful town it can be.

Main Street Fairmount is an organization under Indiana Main Street. This is a community-driven revitalization of our downtown area. Their effort also identifies new market opportunities for the traditional commercial district. The people who make up the Main Street network are passionate advocates, dedicated volunteers, influential stakeholders, and community organizers who work every day to turn the tide in their communities - catalyzing reinvestment, creating jobs, and fostering pride of place.

This year’s winner is…drum roll please… The Branch! They had a lovely winter’s scene of green pine trees among snow capped hills and one our beautiful new light posts painted on their storefront’s windows. This scene beckoned us all to come inside and enjoy a cup of hot fresh brew. Madison-Grant student, Rose Pax, was the artist to be credited for this masterpiece.

Coming in second place was Encore! Dance Acadamy, followed by Fairmount State Bank in third.

Main Street Fairmount would like to thank all those who participated in this year’s contest as well as the community for showing their support and is looking forward to next year!
